Fellipe Barbosa

Fellipe Barbosa was born in Rio de Janeiro. His short films, including the award-winning SALT KISS (2007), have screened at Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand and the New York Film Festival. In 2007, Fellipe was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film. He attended the Sundance Screenwriter’s and Director’s Lab with his feature project CASA GRANDE (2014), his fiction debut which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. His film GABRIEL IN THE MOUNTAINS (2017) won two prizes in Cannes and later, his feature film DOMINGO (2018), co-directed with Clara Linhart, was nominated in Venice.

Before entering a prestigious American university, Gabriel decides to travel the world for one year, his backpack full of dreams. After ten months on the road, he arrives in Kenya where he is joined by his girlfriend. But discovering Africa as a tourist is not enough for Gabriel. He decides to go deeper, leaving on his own for a journey across countries, new friendships and raw emotions to finally reach Mount Mulanje in Malawi, his final destination.
